Joe Castillo
Founder of Miami Landlord Self Help
Joe Castillo’s experience in banking and mortgage lending showed him how important documentation and timing are when landlords are trying to protect their rental properties.
Joe Castillo is the founder of Miami Landlord Self Help, a site that provides “How To” Guides (easy steps) and editable Word/Docs tenant notices for Miami landlords.
A Miami native, Joe built his career in finance and property-related services long before launching this site. He began working in the 1990s as a bank teller at Washington Mutual Bank, where he developed a strong foundation in financial processes, customer service, and the importance of accurate documentation. He later became a Mortgage Broker, helping clients with home financing and property-related issues.
As a Mortgage Broker during the 2008 housing crisis, Joe saw firsthand from his own clients how quickly property issues can spiral when property owners don’t have organized records or keep timely deadlines for filing notices. Through that experience, Joe learned that for landlords trying to protect their rental properties, documentation and timing (like using the right notice at the right time) can help prevent larger problems later.
Joe’s years of experience in banking and mortgage lending is what shaped Miami Landlord Self Help. Joe created the site to give landlords in Miami-Dade County access to easy tools for common rental situations, including editable tenant notice templates, landlord forms, and “How To” guides with exact steps for handling tenant issues more confidently.
